Introduction to getting Marriedit was said that to choose a wife, ascertain the day of the young woman's birth, and refer to the
first chapter of Proverbs. Each verse from the 1st to the 31st is supposed to
indicate, either directly or indirectly, the character, and to guide the searcher — the
verse corresponding with her age indicating the woman's character. In Scotland, the most auspicious time to invoke love charms many love-charms was Hallow's Eve, and fire burning on one side of a grate is the sign of a wedding.
